The conference in Milan held in October, 2017 followed the one held in Malta in 2014, organised in collaboration with the Malta Depth Psychological Association. It aimed to create a climate of sharing and debating of ideas between, authors, practitioners and scholars from all over the world who are interested in imaginative therapies related to the thinking of Robert Desoille (1890-1966). This conference also intended to promote the collaboration amongst different schools of thought, the development of research on the method, the setting up of an archive on waking dream therapy, the translations of several publications on the subject,  the updating of the International Register of practitioners of various denominations, and the organisation of an international conference in a different country every three years.  The various ways of working therapuetically with waking dreams, which were highlighted during the first international conference in 2014, could be grouped under three general sections: authors and groups who developed the metapsychology and the methodology of Desoille, those who use waking dreams within another theoretical orientation (Freudian, Bionian, Jungian, Psychosynthethic and Gestaltist, etc.) and those who use the waking dream method as a therapeutic tool amongst many others. The second conference centered around three broad themes namely, emerging pathologies treated with the imagination, the evolution and development of the waking dream methodologies and specialised applications.
